One person builds and writes 8tickers. My name is Denys Bashkatov. This page says what I know, what I do not know, where the data on this site comes from, and how to tell me about a mistake.

Founder and author, 8tickers. Investing my own money since 2018. I have invested my own money in public stocks since 2018. That is about 8 years of buying and holding shares, in good markets and in bad ones. I am a software engineer, and I built 8tickers myself. That includes the code that loads prices and company data from the providers listed below, the code that scores companies on value, growth and momentum, and the screener you use to filter them. So the knowledge behind this site is technical. I am not a professional stock picker. What I can tell you is how each number on a ticker page is calculated, which provider it came from, how often it is updated, and when it can be misleading. I wrote the metric explanations in the guide from that knowledge.

What I Am Not

Investing is not my main source of income. I am not a licensed financial advisor, a broker, or a research analyst. I have no professional finance qualification. I do not hold a CFA, a CFP, or any securities licence. No financial regulator has registered me or supervises me. Nothing on 8tickers is personal investment advice or a recommendation to buy or sell anything. It is a tool that filters public numbers. A high score means a company ranked well in a formula I wrote, and nothing more. Please check anything important in the company's own reports before you act on it. If you need advice about your own money, speak to a licensed professional.

Where the Data Comes From

8tickers does not produce market data. Every price, ratio and estimate on the site comes from the outside providers listed below. The data is updated on a schedule, not in real time, so a price here can be behind the market. Please do not use this site as a live trading price.

  • Finnhub: Company fundamentals and valuation metrics such as P/E, P/B, margins, growth rates and debt ratios. Also quotes and analyst recommendations.
  • Yahoo Finance: Prices and price history, earnings dates with EPS estimates and actual results, the PEG ratio, and insider transactions (SEC Forms 3, 4 and 5).
  • Binance: Cryptocurrency prices and 24 hour changes.

Calculated by 8tickers

No provider supplies the V, G, M and VGM scores. 8tickers calculates them from the provider data above. V uses value ratios, G uses growth rates, and M uses price momentum. Each score is a rank inside the list of companies we cover. A score of 90 means the company ranked in the top 10 percent on those inputs. It does not mean that any outside company rated it.

How the Content Is Produced

Ticker pages, screener results, calendars and scores are produced automatically from the provider data above. Nobody writes or edits the numbers for a single company by hand, and no company is given a better place in the results by hand. News articles are put together from market coverage and published under my oversight. I set the rules the pipeline follows, and I am responsible for what appears on the site. If a source turns out to be unreliable, I remove it.

Corrections

Providers make mistakes, and a wrong number upstream becomes a wrong number here until someone notices. If a number on this site is wrong, please tell me. I will fix the page or take it down. Fixes are made by loading the data again from the provider, not by typing a new value by hand.

Conflicts of Interest

8tickers takes no payment for coverage. There are no sponsored tickers, no paid placement, no affiliate links to brokers, and no money from any company shown on the site. I may own shares in companies that appear here, including companies the screener ranks highly. The same code produces every ticker page under the same rules, so no single company can be given special treatment.
